Peak Route Guidelines

What qualifies as a route?

Peak Route is dedicated to tracking and celebrating speed attempts on notable uphill routes. To qualify, a route must meet the following criteria:
• Elevation Gain: Minimum of 1,000 feet (approximately 300 meters).
• Distance: No restrictions on length. While small downhill or flat sections are allowed, the route should predominantly ascend. Ideally, the path should consistently go upward.
• Accessibility: Routes must be on public land or areas with permitted public access. Routes traversing private property without public access are not eligible.
• Route Characteristics: The path should be logical and aesthetic, beginning and ending at clear landmarks such as trailheads, summits, or other prominent features.

Participation Categories

We welcome participants of all backgrounds. Categories are divided by gender and age groups to ensure fair competition.

Support Styles

Peak Route allows participants to choose their preferred support style, whether supported, self-supported, or unsupported.

Submission Requirements

To submit a route for consideration:
1. Route Description: Provide a detailed account of the route, including starting and ending points, total elevation gain, and any notable features.
2. GPS Data: Submit a GPS track of your attempt, recorded via applications like Strava or similar.
3. Effort Evaluation: Our proprietary algorithm will assess submissions to determine the best efforts, considering factors beyond just time, such as consistency and intensity.

Safety and Ethics
• Permits: Ensure you have obtained any necessary permits for the route.
• Environmental Considerations: Follow Leave No Trace principles to minimize environmental impact.
• Honesty: Uphold the integrity of the sport by providing accurate information about your attempt.

By adhering to these guidelines, you contribute to a fair and inspiring community of uphill athletes.
